I started playing guitar in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. I got to a point where every day during quarantine I was scrolling on Tik Tok or Instagram mindlessly doing nothing. I realized I wanted to stop using social media all together and I wanted to do something productive in my life. I’ve been playing guitar for 3 years now and all I’ve been trying to do is practice and enjoy the process. My practicing process starts whenever I have free time in my day.

I like to practice the guitar outside on my patio because it soothes the soul. To learn new songs, I visit Ultimate-Guitar to learn how a song is played with guitar tab sheet music. As I’m watching, I’ll start to practice getting the riff down and as a couple days go by the groove will begin to flow. Implementing your voice as a singer while playing guitar is a lot of fun but hard work. It’s important to first complete the rhythm on the guitar before worrying about how you’re going to sound.

The biggest guitar influences in my guitar journey are Jimmy Paige and Jimi Hendrix. Chris Skladal introduced me to Led Zeppelin in high school and at first, I wasn’t on board but over time I had to get the Led out. Jimmy Page created numerous great guitar riffs and as a guitarist it’s so fun to play what you love to hear. Jimi Hendrix had the coolest flare on stage and when I started watching live music videos, he would be my top pick.
